Funding

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the announcement that Wealden District Council is set to receive £1,172,127 through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to help level up the community.

£2.6 billion of levelling up funding will be awarded to communities across the UK through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (‘UKSPF’). This money will be given to locally elected authorities and leaders who best know what their communities need, to support communities in seizing new opportunities.  East Sussex County Council has also been given £2,523,442 in Multiply Funding.

UKSPF invests in local communities by helping to regenerate high streets, tackle economic decline, and reverse geographical inequalities, with areas in greater need receiving more support.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I am constantly campaigning for more Government funding for Wealden, to support our communities. I welcome the investment of over £1.1 million for Wealden District Council, which can be used across a range of projects such as helping young people into good jobs and regenerating our high streets. This investment will help to local residents to fulfil their potential, while reducing regional inequalities that have been left untouched for too long”.
