Nusrat Ghani has marked one year on since having secured the confidence of colleagues from across the House and being elected Chairman of Ways & Means, Madam Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons.
Nusrat Ghani said: "I am hugely grateful for colleagues from across the House for their support and for electing me Chairman of Ways & Means, Madam Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons one year ago today. It has been a busy 12 months, presiding over the first Budget of a Labour government in 14 years, choosing MPs that won the ballot of the Private Members' Bills and looking after the proceedings in our second debating chamber, Westminster Hall. I am honoured to be representing Sussex in the Chair and to be part of the Speaker's team, and I look forward to what next year holds."
