Wealden MP Nus Ghani has met with representatives from Wealden District Council and Bewl Water management
As the largest body of inland water in the south east, Bewl Water attracts thousands of visitors every year.
Opportunities for improvements to the facilities, including the refurbishment of some derelict buildings, were discussed to improve the visitor experience and create more full time jobs.
Nus Ghani said: “Bewl Water is the only expanse of water in the area for Wealden residents to enjoy and I was pleased to get an update on how the existing facilities can be improved in order to create more full-time jobs on site, bringing economic benefits to Wealden. I look forward to a positive working relationship to ensure that Bewl Water continues to be a fantastic local asset.”
Bob Standley, Leader of Wealden District Council said: “Bewl Water is a superb facility for residents of East Sussex and Kent in providing water activities including sailing, canoeing and fishing in addition to miles of footpaths. It was good to hear Bewl’s plan to encourage those pursuits whilst being mindful of the environment within the AONB.”
