Sussex Police will receive an additional £18.1 million next year.

The Government plans to increase funding across the country to more than £15 billion, up by £636 million from this year. The figures include over £400 million to recruit 20,000 extra officers by 2023.

Sussex Police has already benefited from an additional 129 officers. The extra funding next year will also be used to increase counter-terrorism policing.

Wealden MP Nus Ghani welcomed the announcement.

She said, “I am incredibly grateful to Sussex Police for their hard work and dedication during this time of national emergency to help keep our communities safe. I am in regular contact with Sussex Police and our District Commander Alasdair Henry to discuss individual cases of constituents, farmers, and local businesses who have reached out to me regarding local crime, and I continue to work with Sussex Police on a coordinated campaign across Wealden to support victims of domestic violence. I am pleased that Sussex Police will benefit from an additional £18.1 million next year. This funding will provide them with the resources they need to ensure that Wealden continues to be a safe place to live.”
