Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, is encouraging Wealden teachers to apply for this year’s UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme, which will be taking place between 26-28 June 2023.
UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme is a free residential training course hosted by the Parliamentary Education and Engagement Service, which aims to give teachers from across the country the opportunity to experience Parliament first-hand and return to their schools and colleges to encourage young people to get involved in democracy.
Applications are welcome from teachers, school or college leaders and teacher training providers working with young people aged 5-18.
More information and application forms are available online here.
The closing date is Sunday 19th March 2023.
Transport, accommodation and most meal costs are covered by the scheme.
The course will be taking place between 26-28 June 2023 and includes:
- Q&A sessions with the Speaker, Lord Speaker and Members of both Houses
- Talks from subject specialists
- Workshops devoted to key aspects of the work of UK Parliament
- Opportunities to explore new and exciting teaching ideas
- Tours of the Palace of Westminster and the Parliamentary Education Centre
Nusrat Ghani said: “Wealden schools are supported by fantastic teachers and volunteers and I see their work in the students’ stellar achievements when I receive visits in Westminster or when I visit schools in the constituency. The Teacher Ambassador Programme is a great opportunity to learn about the workings of Westminster and pass them onto classrooms across the UK to encourage our young residents to get involved in shaping the world around them. I would like to greatly encourage all Wealden teachers to consider applying for the scheme.”
