Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the news that Wealden is one of the safest areas in the UK to live in, according to new research from a hardware company.

A new study conducted by Hiatt Hardware analysed 2022 crime data from across the UK’s local authority areas including the number of robberies, burglaries, vehicle offences, and thefts from persons per 100,000 people to reveal where in the UK is safest to live, with the least amount of home break-ins.

Wealden ranked fourth safest area in the country, facing only 1.62 robberies per 100,000 people, 16.37 burglaries per 100,000 people and 24.89 vehicle offences per 100,000 people.

The study is available here.

Nusrat Ghani said: “This is fantastic news for Wealden and a great assurance that incidence of crime in the constituency continues to remain low. I hold regular meetings with Sussex Police and I met with the new Wealden District Commander and Wealden Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector recently to discuss the force’s priorities including increasing police visibility on the ground and reducing response times. I was pleased that police patrols were stepped up in Hailsham recently, following an increase of reports of anti-social behaviour and youth disorder, and that Wealden’s Police Teams continue working to make local residents safer in their communities.”
