🗞️ For the last 18 months I have been chairing the Speakers’ Steering Group on AI in #Parliament.
Alongside colleagues we have studied a range of ways which AI can both enhance and improve the way we work across the Parliamentary estate.
However, we are not blind to the threats that AI also poses to our security. That is why looking at how we can better protect Parliament, MPs, and staff is top of our agenda as we move ahead into an AI driven future.
As part of this work we have recently published our latest document “Artificial Intelligence, Guidance for Members” as a way of making sure that MPs and their staff are better informed about how we can use AI to support our day to day activities as MP.
The guidelines we outline underscore the importance of using AI to augment and enhance human capability rather than replace it, especially in an environment of democratic decision-making
As the capabilities of AI continue to emerge and develop, it is crucial that we, as a wider Parliament do all we can to keep up and position ourselves as the most AI literate Parliament on the globe.
