Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald visited Seaforth Farm surgery in Hailsham to meet with the new medical team that is providing care for over 11,000 local residents.
Vita Healthcare is a group of GP practices serving communities across East Sussex, including now in Sussex Weald, caring for over 50,000 patients. Following the planned termination of the Hailsham Medical Group Practice, from April 2026 Manor Park Surgery in Polegate, part of the Vita Healthcare group, was named as the new provider of care for the approximately 11,000 patients previously registered with Hailsham Medical Group across Seaforth Farm Surgery and Vicarage Field Surgery in Hailsham.
At the time of transition, NHS Sussex confirmed that patients did not need to take any action and would not need to re-register, with all records transferred automatically and with services continuing to be offered from the existing premises, maintaining the current catchment area.
During the meeting, Nusrat was pleased to meet just some of the GP partners and members of the new team to discuss how the transition is going, and some of the challenges and opportunities facing primary care locally.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I was pleased to visit Seaforth Farm surgery to meet some of the GP partners and medical staff to get an update on the services provided in Hailsham. I recognise the significance of this transition for local residents and appreciate the huge efforts of the whole team to provide unbroken access to primary care with no changes to Hailsham patients, while also managing rising demand and adapting to ongoing pressures within general practice. Easy access to the NHS is particularly important in rural communities such as ours in Sussex Weald and I have regular catch ups with the leaders of our local NHS Trusts, GP practices and medical centres on service provision locally and to ensure residents have access to safe, high-quality care.”
