Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, visited Heathfield offices of Metrail Construction Limited, to meet its Managing Director and local resident Martyn Sherwood and learn more about their solution for repairing potholes.
Metrail Construction Ltd. was established in 2007 to provide repair and maintenance services in the infrastructure sector. They are a leading infrastructure repair and maintenance specialist operating across the highway, bridges and rail sectors in the UK, working with tier one contractors for London Underground, NetworkRail and Highways England.
Their goal of keeping highways and road structures in the UK in top condition is underpinned by delivering the most cost-effective and long-lasting solutions by combining trusted methods with innovative technologies.
Nusrat was pleased to visit Metrail’s Head Office in Heathfield to learn more specifically about Metrail’s solutions to tackle recurring potholes, often caused by the winter cycle of freeze and thaw conditions. Instead of patching the surface, Metrail use concrete slab stabilisation process, which is based on injecting a silica-based resin into the sub-base to drive out water and fill any voids, extending road lifespan by up to 30 years.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I know from my inbox and surgeries that potholes and road conditions are one of the major concerns of local residents. Driving across the constituency every week, I recognise and share the frustration as well as concerns about the impact of poor road conditions on public safety. I was pleased to meet with the Managing Director and team at Metrail to hear more about how our local companies are leading the way in infrastructure improvements and longevity and delivering innovative solutions to some of the main issues within the transport sector. It is absolutely vital that our roads continue to receive the investment they need and I continue to press our local authorities and Government Ministers to ensure that Sussex Weald is not forgotten when decisions are made about funding to improve the safety and durability of our roads.”
