MP Nusrat Ghani has joined farmers and landowners to discuss key rural challenges.
The MP for Sussex Weald attended a roundtable meeting near Lye Green on July 3 organised by the Country Land and Business Association, bringing together attendees from Eridge, Rotherfield, Crowborough, Withyham and Hartfield.
Issues discussed included animal welfare, inheritance tax, flooding, emergency support from utilities and farm diversification.
Nusrat Ghani said: "Farmers and rural businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy. I will always champion them and the fantastic work they do for our communities."
She also welcomed input from Sussex Police, who attended to address rural crime concerns.
Ms Ghani said: "I’d like to extend my thanks especially to Sussex Police Rural Crime Team for joining us on the day to address concerns around tackling, reporting and preventing rural crime and I look forward to organising and hosting another Farmers’ Forum soon.”
