Forest Row is home to many diverse and artistic community run businesses and initiatives, and Wealden MP Nus Ghani has been out and about in the area giving her support to volunteers and small businesses.
Nus recently visited the monthly Repair Café in the Community Centre to see how so many fantastic local volunteers provide friendly expert advice, supporting locals to repair a wide array of loved items.
The Repair Café is a community event that matches people who need things fixed with people who are able to fix them. Run by the local Parish Council, it is a fun, useful and popular monthly event that brings the community together to get things fixed.
Following the recent proposal from East Sussex County Council to close the recycling centres at Forest Row and Wadhurst, Nus also visited the centre to encourage locals to raise their concerns with East Sussex County Council via its consultation.
ESCC are currently running a consultation on the proposed closure until the 15th May, and the only way to raise objections is by responding to the consultation at https://consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-transport-environment/household-waste-recycling-sites-have-your-say-1/.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “It’s a real privilege to represent Forest Row, and I always enjoy popping into the Parish Council offices for a coffee and a chat.
“The monthly Repair Café at the Community Centre is Forest Row at its best, hosting a busy repair and care centre, helping us fix our loved items such as bikes, computers and clothes.
“I’d like to extend my thanks to all the hard working Wealden volunteers and the Forest Row Parish Council who make the Repair Café possible.
“It’s also absolutely vital that as many local residents as possible respond to East Sussex County Council’s consultation on the closure of the Forest Row recycling centre.
“The recycling centre provides a vital service for so many local people, not just in Forest Row but across the whole of Wealden, and it’s urgent that their voices are heard before the consultation closes on the 15th May.”
