Wealden MP Nus Ghani has visited the Crowborough Covid-19 vaccination site at Saxonbury House surgery and thanked medical staff and volunteers for the fantastic work being carried out to vaccinate Wealden residents against Coronavirus.

Nus was joined by the leader of the Wealden District Council, Councillor Bob Standley and guided by Dr Adam Bennion, a partner at the practice.

Saxonbury House surgery has been administering the vaccine since mid-January, vaccinating patients not only from Crowborough but also surgeries in Forest Row, Wadhurst, Groombridge, Hartfield, Mayfield and Rotherfield. The medical team is supported by a team of volunteers across all these practices and together they ensure that up to 600 people are vaccinated at the surgery every day.

Such has been their excellent progress that over 14,000 jabs have been distributed to date, with no dose wasted. Of the patient group allocated to Saxonbury House surgery, all eligible care home residents, all eligible housebound residents, and over 90 per cent of patients in the top four priority groups have been immunised. The GP surgery has also maintained its regular services.

Nus Ghani said: “I have received so much positive feedback from constituents about their experience receiving their first jab at Saxonbury House and I am incredibly grateful to the team of clinicians and volunteers at Saxonbury House surgery for their continuous efforts to deliver this life-saving vaccine to Wealden residents.

"I am pleased that the vaccine rollout has been a great success across Wealden and that every effort is put towards ensuring that no dose is wasted. I would like to thank Dr Bennion for arranging a safe visit to the site, so that I could witness the smooth operation in Crowborough. Vaccines are our way out of this pandemic and every day we continue to make great progress towards beating the virus in our communities.”
