The club set an ambitious target of £3,000 to provide for improvements to the drainage at the ground which has now been achieved thanks to the combined efforts of supporters, volunteers, players, club officials and the wider community.
In total £1,481 was raised through the initial funding campaign, with a further donation of £1,560 very generously received after the close of the campaign. The money raised has paid for new land drains to be installed under the pitch, which should help to ease waterlogging.
A club spokesman said; "The success of the campaign would not have been possible without those who have donated both time and money to support us, and we thank them all for their efforts.
"With very heavy rainfall this month we have already seen the benefits of this work - on Saturday 4th October not only were we able to get a game on in the afternoon, but also the pitch was fine for the Under 8's team to use for a game in the morning. Less than 12 months ago, such a feat after two days of solid rain would have been inconceivable."
The club would also like to thank Agrifactors of Heathfield for carrying out the work as well as local and national media, and our local MP, Nus Ghani, for bringing attention to our campaign.
