Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, is supporting St Bartholomew’s Church in Maresfiled in securing funds for new facilities to expand its use to local communities.
St Bartholomew’s Church, which has been serving Maresfield communities for over 1,000 years is in need of a new kitchen and toilets, so that the wider community can take full advantage of its premises. Full planning approval has been secured and once these facilities are built, the church can host a variety of classes, workshops and other events for the benefit of the local communities.
Although the fundraising team has already raised some funds and a grant has been secured from the Parish Council, a further £50,000 is still needed to complete the job. “Buy a Brick” campaign has been launched to achieve this. You can sponsor a brick for £10 or half a brick for £5 and help preserve this fantastic heritage site.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I regularly attend the Remembrance Service at St Bartholomew’s church and I recently also attended a lovely community Thanksgiving Service organised to celebrate the investiture of British Empire Medal onto Maresfield resident Dr Gillian Bullock. St Bartholomew’s Church has been serving Maresfield for centuries and you can now play a part in its history and ensure it can continue to support local communities. The contribution of places of worship as places of solace are vital to our towns and villages and with these new facilities, St Bartholomew’s can open up its doors to more communities and become a more vibrant meeting place. If you can, please “Buy a Brick” and help raise the necessary funds for this important change.”
