Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has met with Megan Tyler, Community Champion at Morrisons in Crowborough to support local community projects.
Megan manages the store’s contributions through donations, fundraising and volunteering. Since the start of the pandemic, the role of Community Champion has really taken off and recent projects included donating hampers to Cancer Research UK, introducing a dedicated recycling box for face coverings in the store so they can be recycled and donating plants to St James and St Peters Hospice for their summer fete.
One of the initiatives currently in place in-store is a children’s library. This “Little Library” is located right by the entrance and boasts many lovely books to keep children entertained whilst shopping and to take home. The library is restocked regularly with donations.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I’m a regular customer at Crowborough Morrisons and I’m pleased to have found out more about all the wonderful projects placed and advertised around the store. Megan is doing a fantastic job supporting the community in a positive way and this is a great initiative to get our young ones reading! If any of local customers have any children’s books at home that are no longer being used, please consider donating them to the Little Library as they are in high demand.”
