Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, was a guest speaker at the South Coast Regional Session of the European Youth Parliament UK, which took place at Bede's Senior School in Upper Dicker.

The European Youth Parliament United Kingdom (EYPUK) is a politically unbound charity organisation open to young people aged 11-24. EYPUK's aims are to educate young people around local, national and European issues, and provide a forum for young people to build new skills and develop a strong sense of community and citizenship.

The regional sessions gather up to 100 delegates from schools across the South Coast of England to debate and discuss resolutions on various topics. As the Member of Parliament for Wealden, Nusrat spoke to the students about her experience and responsibilities as an MP, and the workings of Westminster, before opening the floor to questions.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I was pleased to visit Bede’s Senior school to speak to the students and staff involved in the European Youth Parliament Forum. It was encouraging to see so many young people from different backgrounds engaged in learning more about active citizenship and how to positively shape the world around them, and I was pleased to share my journey to Parliament as an inspiration for any aspiring politicians in attendance.”
