Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed £41.4 million of new funding for East Sussex to deliver vital improvements to local bus networks.
East Sussex is one of thirty-one places across the country chosen to receive new funding to improve local bus services through the Government’s £1.2 billion bus transformation programme.
Including earlier awards, just under two thirds of England's population outside London will benefit from new investment to make their buses more frequent, more reliable, easier to understand and use, cheaper, or greener. Improvements will also include integrated ticketing and more bus lanes to speed up journeys.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I am pleased that East Sussex is receiving £41.4m of new funding to transform local bus infrastructure. Bus services are a vital service for many Wealden residents and this investment will help connect communities in East Sussex and deliver better, more reliable and more frequent services across the region.”
