Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, was delighted to cut the ribbon and officially open the brand-new South Road Post Office in Hailsham on Friday 18 November, alongside Hailsham Mayor and councillor Paul Holbrook.
South Road Post Office opened as part of an exciting modernisation and investment programme across the Post Office network where there is a clear need for a branch.
Six months ago, Bala Sitisabesan and his wife, Suganya Bala, opened a convenience shop called Sabari Store at 180 South Road, Hailsham, BN27 3NR. They then successfully applied to open a brand-new Post Office. The Post Office is open daily with current opening hours on Monday to Saturday: 7am – 6pm; and Sunday: 8am – 1pm, offering customers 60 hours of Post Office service a week.
South Road Post Office customers can also access a wide range of Post Office services, from posting letters and parcels to collecting and returning online shopping items. Customers will also be able to take advantage of a wide range of banking services including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.
Nusrat Ghani MP said: “Post Office services are key in rural constituencies such as Wealden. Many people rely on their local branch in order to access essential services and I continue working with communities across Wealden to keep our Post Office branches open and thriving. I am pleased that this conveniently located brand-new Post Office is now open and available to Hailsham residents, and I wish Suganya and Bala best of luck with their new venture.”
