Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, is supporting the Rotherfield St Martin’s Memory Walk which takes place on Saturday, September 17 in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Rotherfield St Martin (RSM) is a community-led charity dedicated to providing support for older people living in Rotherfield and surrounding areas. In collaboration with Alzheimer’s Society, RSM have set up their own memory walk this year, and are inviting residents to join in.
Last year the total of £1,600 was raised by 36 RSM walkers for the Alzheimer’s Society. This year, they are hoping to make the event even bigger with two local circular walks available. There is a four kilometre walk along the country lanes, and an eight kilometre walk through the surrounding countryside. Each of the walks will start at the RSM office in the centre of Rotherfield and finish at The Kings Arms garden for refreshments.
Nusrat Ghani said: “Rotherfield St Martin are a fantastic charity, selflessly dedicating their time to supporting our elderly and vulnerable. I have been working closely with them on making Wealden communities dementia friendly and I am pleased that they are running their own Memory Walk as a regular event.
"The walk is open to all, and I would encourage local residents to lace up their boots, come together in support or a memory of loved ones affected by dementia, and support this vital cause.”
