Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has asked others to consider the plight of Uyghur women in Xinjiang, China, for International Women's Day 2021.
In a video for the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, Nus discussed the horrific situation facing hundreds of thousands of Uyghur and minority women across the North-Western province of Xinjiang.
She added: "controlling the bodies & freedoms of women isn’t new, but the horror of the scale of forced sterilisations & ‘re-education’ camps in Xinjiang is a crime against humanity. That’s why I’m leading the Genocide amendment to secure a real time investigation into the atrocities and prevent these mass human rights abuses."
