Local council leaders have been discussing ways to better provide links to one of our areas biggest employers.
Situated on 1100 acres of Wealden countryside just outside Uckfield and equipped with world-renown championship golf course, the East Sussex National Resort provides the perfect retreat spot. The resort is a major local employer, providing hundreds of jobs to residents in Wealden and across East Sussex, including many part-time job positions for students and carers.
Dangerous walk
However, access to the hotel by public transport is hindered as existing bus stops are located too far from the resort, requiring a long, dangerous walk alongside the A22.
This is causing issues especially for young staff with no access to a car and results in lost employment opportunities.
Local council leaders convened a meeting with the hotel management, commercial director of Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company, and the Leader of Wealden District Council to discuss ways of improving existing bus links and infrastructure. Several proposals were discussed and cooperation between the hotel, bus company and Wealden District Council has been established.
There will hopefully be better transport links for employees and guests alike.
