This week, Wealden MP Nus Ghani welcomed a group of students from Uckfield Community Technology College to Parliament.
The group of almost twenty sixth form students, who were also able to take a tour of The House of Commons and House of Lords, met with Nus to discuss Parliamentary processes, the role of legislators and issues that matter to them in Wealden and across the country.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “I have always been determined to open up Parliament to the next generation of campaigners and public servants. One of the joys of being an MP is working with schools across Wealden and meeting the fantastic and hard-working students and teachers.
“I was delighted to be able to welcome students from Uckfield Community Technology College up to Westminster, so they could see my place of work. It was an honour to share with them the mother of all Parliaments and discuss my role as a legislator, campaigner and the voice for Wealden in the Commons Chamber. I hope that the experience will inspire and encourage the students to consider a role in public service.
“The UCTC students asked typically engaging and thoughtful questions, covering a wide range of local, national and international issues. I’d like to extend my thanks to all the hardworking teachers who helped arrange the trip up to Parliament.”
