The annual Countryside Alliance Awards, nicknamed the ‘Rural Oscars’, are now open for nominations until 13th November 2017 and Nus Ghani is inviting her constituents to nominate their favourite local businesses.
The Countryside Alliance Awards are a national scheme that honour thousands of businesses, highlighting their impact on local communities and providing them with a prominent national platform. The Awards seek to celebrate people who go the extra mile to ensure that rural Britain’s food and farming industry, small businesses, traditional skills and, most importantly, its communities can flourish.
The Awards final will take place in the House of Lords in spring 2018, where the winners will be announced.
New for 2017 is the ‘Pub’ category which recognises the establishments that are so often at the heart of rural communities. The four other categories in the Awards are: Local Food & Drink, Village Shop/ Post Office, Butcher and Rural Enterprise.
Commenting on the awards, Ms Ghani said: “The Countryside Alliance Awards are an excellent way to promote the local businessmen and women who work so hard to keep rural Britain thriving.
Wealden’s produce is second to none and I know that our area is home to many businesses worthy of national recognition; so, whether you live in one of our beautiful villages: from Forest Row to Wadhurst, Fletching to Buxted, Horam to Hellingly, or one of our stunning towns: Hailsham, Crowborough or Uckfield, please get involved and nominate today. Let’s see it we can bring a British title home.”
Nominations are open online at www.countryside-alliance.org/caawards until mid-November. Judging will then take place and national winners will be announced at the House of Lords in Spring 2018.
