Nutley Windmill, a historic landmark on the Ashdown Forest, appears on a set of first class stamps newly released by Royal Mail. The stamps, issued on the 20th of June, celebrate Britain’s historic wind and watermills. Nus was recently presented with a large print of the commemorative stamp, which is now proudly on display in her Westminster office.
Nutley Windmill is a grade II* listed building and is one of only five open-trestle post mills to survive in Britain. Parts of this historic mill are believed to date to the 16th century. It is currently maintained by the Uckfield and District Preservation Society.
Commenting on the commemorative stamp, Ms Ghani said: “This stamp is a fabulous way to celebrate Nutley Windmill and I hope it inspires many people to pay a visit to this treasured local landmark. It is a testament to the hard work of the Uckfield and District Preservation Society that this historic mill has been maintained so well and is still around for locals and visitors to enjoy.”
