Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has congratulated staff and trustees of Crowborough’s Beacon Academy and MARK Education Trust on their latest Ofsted report praising the very high standards of learning and teacher expertise.
Beacon Academy underwent a rigorous, two-day ungraded Ofsted inspection in December 2022, and received high praise for the high quality of education it provides, as well as for the welcoming community feel and ambitious and challenging curriculum.
An ungraded inspection is usually carried out when the school has previously been graded as a good school. If enough evidence is found to suggest that the school grade could move either up or down, the inspectors will recommend that the next inspection that the school receives is a graded inspection.
During Beacon Academy’s inspection, the examiners found enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be marked as ‘Outstanding’ at the next graded inspection.
Over the past few years, Nusrat has been working very closely with Anna Robinson, the Executive Headteacher and Chief Executive Officer of MARK Education Trust, helping to secure £1.3 million for building upgrades to improve the roof of the Sixth Form Centre via the highly competitive Government Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).
Nusrat Ghani said: “Beacon Academy is a fantastic school and I am delighted about this news. Such positive inspection outcomes and reports are rare and the students, staff, trustees, and the leadership team should be incredibly proud of themselves. This is a huge win for Beacon Academy and a great testament to their ambition to continue providing the best possible education to Wealden students and to be an exceptional school. I will continue working with the leadership team and supporting the school, and I look forward to seeing Beacon Academy continue to thrive.”
