Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has convened a meeting with Wadhurst Parish Council and the new leadership of Uplands Academy to discuss issues with traffic congestion and parking provision in the village.
In September 2022, Uplands Academy joined Crowborough’s Beacon Academy as part of the MARK Education Trust, under the leadership of Anna Robinson, the Executive Headteacher and Chief Executive Officer of MARK Education Trust. Nusrat has been working very closely with Ms Robinson, helping to secure multi-million-pound funding for building upgrades at Beacon Academy via the highly competitive Government Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).
Nusrat has previously met with the Wadhurst Parish Council to discuss their concerns regarding increased congestion and parking issues in the village. This follow up meeting explored possible solutions to improving the situation, including the possibility of an additional car park to ease congestion the village, and improve the safety of and accessibility to the Academy site.
Nusrat Ghani said: “Uplands Academy is a fantastic school and I look forward to seeing it continue to thrive as part of the MARK Education Trust. With the rising popularity of the school and its expansion, it is expected that traffic in the centre of Wadhurst will increase over the coming years. I am pleased to be working collaboratively with the Parish Council and the new leadership of Uplands Academy on improving the situation and I will continue supporting the case to ensure that a positive solution for the school and the Wadhurst community is found.”
