Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, visited Sheffield Park and Garden near Fletching to meet the local team and volunteers who are working to preserve Wealden heritage, and to learn more about current and future restoration projects.
Sheffield Park is a magnificent, landscaped park and garden, featuring lakes, waterfalls and many rare plants and trees. The garden has a rich history and is a horticultural work of art formed through centuries of landscape design with paths circulating through the areas surrounding them. The estate is now managed by the National Trust.
The garden is open daily between and it currently hosts a winter trail bringing to life the astonishing story of Nellie Soames, former owner at Sheffield Park and one of the first women to venture into the Arctic. The estate is accessible to all, and double and single mobility buggies are also available to borrow at the entrance.
