Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed the news that through the Vaccines Delivery Plan, 125,364 doses have already been administered in Sussex and East Surrey Health and Care Partnership.

❗Update on Hailsham vaccinations❗

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Bridgeside Surgery, Hailsham Medical Group, Quintins Medical centre
Today, I spoke to the Chief Executive Officer of NHS Sussex and East Surrey and he assured me that all three surgeries are on track to start vaccinating from this weekend. Eligible Hailsham residents will continue to be contacted for an appointment.

The recent news that the over 70s could also now be vaccinated caused some confusion and concern among those who are still waiting to receive an appointment. Please be assured that the East Sussex NHS remains focused on vaccinating the first priority cohorts. These are residents and staff in care homes for older people, those aged 80 and over, and frontline health and care staff.

Please do not contact your GP practice, but wait until you are contacted. You will be contacted as soon as an appointment is available for you. No one will be forgotten. Everybody in the first four priority groups will be vaccinated by mid-February.

125,364 vaccinations have been delivered across Sussex πŸŽ‰

I continue to raise vaccination rollout in Wealden with the Government. Today, I met with Professor Jonathan Van Tam and the vaccines Minister, and held talks with the NHS England South East manager for mass vaccinations. I continue to have regular update meetings with East Sussex Health Trust & East Sussex County Council to ensure plans are in place for patients at every GP surgery in Wealden.

πŸ₯ Two new hospital hubs πŸ₯

Two more hospital-based vaccination services have opened this week: The Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead and the Mill View Hospital in Hove. That means there are now eight hospital-based vaccination services up and running in Sussex:
Conquest Hospital, Hastings; Eastbourne District General Hospital; Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton; Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath; Worthing Hospital; St Richards Hospital, Chichester.

Some people may be invited to one of the hospital hubs to receive their vaccination. If you are concerned about your travel arrangements, you can find information about community and non-emergency transport on the East Sussex County Council website or call the community hub on 01273 099956.

🏠 Vaccinations in care homes πŸ

Arrangements are being made directly with each care home. The NHS in Sussex is on track to have vaccinated in all care homes for older people by the end of the week, and all care homes with residents over the age of 65 years old by the end of January. Vaccines are being delivered through the GP-led local vaccination services and by Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust vaccination teams.

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Update on Covid cases and infection rates πŸ‘ˆπŸ½

New cases reported for the latest 7-day period available (seven days leading up to 13 January) were 884, compared to 910 for the previous seven-day period. The weekly rate in Wealden has also declined, but remains above the England average at 547 and per 100,000.
