Copy of letter sent to the Secretary of State asking for a meeting about the cadet camp in Crowborough

Dear Minister, please don’t ignore my constituents.

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald has renewed her calls on the new Government to address concerns about the use of the cadet and blue light services facility in Crowborough.

Nusrat said: “I have reached out to the new Secretary of State asking him to meet me with me and to discuss the use of the cadet camp at Crowborough. It is disappointing that the Government is ignoring correspondence on the issue and seemingly has no plan to return the training camp to its intended use.

Crowborough is one of several thriving towns in my constituency and there is an overwhelming sense of community spirit. There is so much good work going on by local groups and organisations, yet all of this is overshadowed by the Government’s decision to take control of the cadet camp and remove it as a local community resource. I receive so many enquiries from local groups and residents, regardless of their perspective, they feel the whole situation is unfair and believe they are being ignored.

I have published a copy of my letter to the new Secretary of State, Wes Streeting, as I want to be absolutely transparent about my ongoing campaigning against the decision taken by the Government.

Standing Up For Our Armed Forces

The security of the United Kingdom and the British people depends on many things, not least our economic security, but ultimately we depend on the British Armed Forces to keep us safe at home and abroad. I consider it my first duty to do whatever I have to do to keep the people of Wealden safe. One of the best ways in which I can do that is to support and stand up for our Armed Forces in Parliament.

I am dedicated to maintaining high quality health care, and have visited Wealden’s local hospitals where the commitment and passion of our doctors and nurses deserves to be matched by the Trust.Charles Hendry MP has been such a strong voice in this area, especially for Crowborough Hospital. I intend to follow his lead, to maintain the highest quality local health care while supporting the Friends of Crowborough Hospital, and also the mums’ Campaigning Group for Crowborough Birthing Unit which is such a valuable local resource.

Crowborough Community Survey

After 5 months since the first occupants were moved into Crowborough Training Camp by the Home Office, I am conducting a survey directly asking Crowborough residents what impact this has had on them.

Letters to the Government

It shouldn’t take a member of parliament to invite water bosses to see what is happening on the ground.
