Wealden MP Nus Ghani has welcomed the news that East Sussex County Council will retain a full range of services provided by East Sussex Music.
Nus received a considerable amount of correspondence from Wealden constituents in support of the East Sussex Music service, which provides invaluable music lessons for students in schools across Wealden.
Through meeting with County Council Leader Cllr Keith Glazier, Education portfolio holder Cllr Bob Standley, encouraging constituents to respond to the consultation and running a petition which attracted hundreds of responses, Nus campaigned to encourage a rethink on the proposals to change the way music services were provided.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “It is wonderful news that East Sussex Music will continue its current successful and popular set up.
“Hundreds of my constituents benefit from the invaluable services provided by East Sussex Music, and I am delighted to see that East Sussex County Council have responded to feedback from Wealden residents so positively.
“I’d like to thank Cllr Keith Glazier and Cllr Bob Standley for being so receptive and open to discussion about the concerns of my constituents.
“This is the right decision and will no doubt be welcomed by communities across Wealden, as students at East Sussex schools continue to benefit from the positive confidence-building impact music has on children from all backgrounds.”
