Nus Ghani

Nus Ghani encourages teachers throughout the constituency to sign up for a free training opportunity, hosted by the Parliamentary Education and Engagement Service, between the 22nd and 24th of June.

The training scheme is part of the ‘UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme’ and is open to teachers working with children aged 5-18. Travel, accommodation, and meal costs will be covered and the experience will include Q&A sessions with MPs and Peers, talks from subject specialists, interactive workshops and tours of the Palace of Westminster.

Nus Ghani, who works very closely with schools in Uckfield, Hailsham, Crowborough, as well as in other parts of Wealden, strongly advocates engaging pupils in the work of the UK Parliament and the democratic processes of this country.

She urges all teachers who feel strongly about this cause to apply online for a place on the scheme. The application form is available at https://learning.parliament.uk/session-workshop/teachers-institute/ and the deadline is Sunday 12th April.

On the ‘UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme’, Ghani has commented:

‘Any scheme to bring our children closer to our democracy is an important tool which should be used. Through this Ambassador Programme, teachers would get not only useful tips on how to engage children, but also enviable Westminster experiences which they can take back to their schools or insert into their lessons, as appetisers for both students and other teachers.’

‘I am pleased that the Education and Engagement Service is running free schemes such as this one and making them available to all teachers, irrespective of where they come from, where they teach, or what years they teach.’

‘Wealden schools are supported by fantastic teachers and volunteers. I see their work in the students’ stellar achievements, when I receive visits in Westminster or when I visit schools in the constituency. An opportunity such as this one would bolster the efforts of our wonderful teaching staff, so I urge teachers the length and breadth of Wealden to apply.’
