Nus Ghani

Nus Ghani joined the fresh faces sitting on the prominent Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

So far, the Committee has announced two substantial inquiries: one into the impact of Horizon IT on the relationship between the Post Office and sub-postmasters and another one into the impact of UK business on the environment, with a view to COP26.

Nus Ghani has welcomed this busy agenda, having participated in the first evidence-taking session, on the 10th of March. During the session, Ghani took evidence on the devastating impact of Horizon and Post Office Ltd on sub post masters.

She looks forward to hearing from Claire O’Neill, former President of COP26, as she gives evidence to the Committee, kickstarting the Inquiry into COP26 and its central element – the net-zero legally binding pledge. This session is scheduled for the 25th of March.

The Committee has also reached out to the public and is surveying preferences on future inquiries.

She added:

‘The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee supports some of the most vital areas at the heart of our prosperity – businesses big and small. It is an honour to be on this Committee, keeping an eye on the Government's agenda as well as nudging the focus of the Business Department.’

‘My ministerial portfolio was focused on infrastructure, energy and transport. Through engagements with businesses in my own constituency, I know the struggles and anxieties facing entrepreneurs, whilst also being familiar with the wealth of opportunities available for them'.
