MP Nus Ghani has welcomed government funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support projects across the district.
Wealden District Council are due to receive their UK Shared Prosperity Fund Year 1 allocation in full from The Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. A total of £148,023 revenue and £14,225 capital for 2022/2023.
Funding will be used to support town and village centres to encourage shopping local and business support to new local start-ups alongside needs of established and mature local businesses.
Funding will also be used as part of a plan for regeneration of the Cuckoo Trail.
Nus Ghani said: "I am constantly campaigning for more Government funding for Wealden, and I am pleased that this much-needed investment from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund has been secured. The Cuckoo Trail is an important asset in great need of additional investment to improve safety and accessibility for Wealden residents and given the impact of Covid-19 on the district's town centres, this investment is also essential for revitalising the hearts of Crowborough, Uckfield and Hailsham and economic activity within them. I look forward to seeing the delivery of the proposed schemes, which will benefit residents, visitors and businesses across Wealden."
