Supporting Charities across Sussex Weald

Charities

Our charities are playing a crucial role in our communities, supporting those who are most in need. In a year of unprecedented disruption, we relied upon our charities more than ever. I'm the patron of Hospice in the Weald and have previously worked with many local charities, including the following organisations:

  • MAYFACS
  • Rotherfield St Martin
  • EngAGE charity and TN22 and TN22 Plus Clubs
  • Maresfield Church
  • Crowborough Community Champion
  • Carillon Cottage, Wadhurst
  • Crowborough Foodbank
  • Sunflowers Mental Health & Wellbeing CIC
  • Nutley Windmill

I am also working in partnership with Rotherfield St Martin charity and Wealden Dementia Action Alliance to raise awareness about dementia and leading the way in making our communities dementia friendly. I have proudly signed up to the Dementia Charter and I hope many businesses and organisations will follow suit.

🎗️Securing funding for our charities

Sixteen charities in Wealden received funding from the ÂŁ200m Coronavirus Community Support Fund in November 2020, totalling ÂŁ237,956. The funding is aimed at supporting those who need to continue providing their services as part of the national coronavirus response.

Recipients of the grant are:

  • The Sussex Association For Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus
  • East Sussex Association of Blind and Partially Sighted People
  • Children's Respite Trust
  • Hailsham Festival of Arts & Culture
